RUGBY UNION: Witney hold off Swindon assault

Witney kept their supporters on tenterhooks before edging past rivals Swindon 22-15 in South West 1 East on Saturday.
The win lifted Witney up to seventh in the table.
They started brilliantly before running out of gas as mistakes began to creep in.
But in the end, the home side had enough in the tank for a narrow win.
With the wind at their backs, Witney went ahead with a Tim Muller try converted Henry Lamb, who increased the lead with a penalty.
Swindon were hoping to make the most of the elements in the second half, but Witney went further ahead with a Carl Strutt try, again converted by Henry Lamb.
Swindon got on the scoresheet with a penalty and try, and the danger signs were there for Witney when another Swindon try cut the deficit to 17-15.
James Burke fed Thom Murton for a try to ease home nerves and alth-ough Swindon hammered away at the Witney line late on, they were unable to reply again.
Witney are without a game this weekend.
l Chipping Norton face Gosford All Blacks in the Oxfordshire Shield final at Iffley Road on Sunday.
