CRICKET: Grant hits maiden century for Swifts

Josh Grant slammed a maiden OCA League ton to help Witney Swifts 2nd to a seven-wicket win at Kilkenny 2nd in the second round of the OCA League Keith Crump Centenary Cup.

Kilkenny posted 226-7 as Daniel Floyd scored 94 not out, but Swifts eased to 227-3 thanks to Grant’s superb 130.

A youthful Minster Lovell 3rd crushed Deddington 2nd by 128 runs.

Steve Smith (67) and 15-year-old Connor Tinsley (62) helped Minster to 214 all out, before William Hayes (4-15) starred in Deddington’s 86 all out.

Division 2 side Chadlington upset East Oxford with a thrilling three-run win in the Airey Cup second-rouns.

Mark Lambert (67no) saw Chadlington post 173-5, before Martin Shepherd (5-30) and Freddie Simon (4-54) helped to upset the form book and dismiss East Oxford for 170.

Minster Lovell lost by 59 runs to holders Westbury.

Harry Smith led the way with 60 as Westbury reached 212-7, and then Charlie Harper claimed 4-27 in Minster’s 153-8.

Stonesfield saw off Great Horwood by four wickets.

Horwood posted 180-3, thanks to Sam Willett’s 110, but Tim Wyatt (47no) and Jamie Burns (40) led Stonesfield to 182-6.

Charlbury 2nd bowed out of the Telegraph Cup following a 226-run defeat by Cairns Fudge in the second round.

Fudge amassed 376-5 as Will Caiger led the way with 143, bringing up his century in just 50 balls.

Jamie Clark and Chetan Patel took four scalps each as Charlbury were 150 all out.

Combe’s Sam Kellie celebrated his 17th birthday with a maiden five-wicket haul to set up a four-wicket win over Hailey.

Kellie claimed 5-35 and Robbie Nicholson 4-11 as Hailey were shot out for 51, Combe reaching 52-6 for victory.

Witney Swifts cruised to a nine-wicket victory over Deddington.

Mark Horne (4-15) and Alfie Saunders (4-33) combined to skittle Deddington for 86, and Swifts cruised to 87-1.

Eynsham failed to cope with the menace of Omar Hussain as they lost by 86 runs to Radley.

Billy Webb’s 60 saw Radley to 141-9, before Omar Hussain (4-13), Manley du Preez (3-10) and Darren Jones (3-16) combined to knock Eynsham over for 55.

Minster Lovell 2nd went down to a 109-run defeat to Stanton St John Willows in the second round of the Steve Dixon Memorial Cup.

Swinbrook lost by 88 runs against Uffington.

John Boaler (75) led the way in the visitors’ 177 all out and Ashley Green claimed 4-25 as Swinbrook were dismissed for 89.

Russell King took 5-40 to help Bampton to a four-wicket win at Chesterton 2nd in the Osberton Radiators Cup second round.

The home side were all out for 187, before Nick Pitt (52), King (42) and Richard Pitt (38) saw Bampton to 188-6.

l Langford beat Duntisbourne Abbotts by 14 runs in a Cotswold & District League Division 2 thriller.

Tom Stevens top-scored with 67 as Langford posted 205-8, before Chris Sinsbury took 3-14 as Duntisboure were dismissed for 192 in the final over.
