CRICKET: Deadly duo strike to boost title bid

Freddie Simon and Steve Hunt were the heroes as Chadlington defied the wet weather to post victory in their chase for the OCA League Division 2 crown.

Chadlington beat Tets-worth by six wickets after skittling their hosts for only 44.

Simon (4-14) and Hunt (4-16) were chief destroyers, and then Chadlington reached 45-4.

Stonesfield went down to a surprise six-wicket defeat at home to Marsh Gibbon, who moved away from the drop zone as a result.

Tim Wyatt (85) and Jamie Burns (51) helped Stonesfield post 213-8, only for Alex Wallace (68no) and Stuart Leonard (61no) to see Gibbon to 215-4.

Rain ruined Hook Nor-ton’s run chase as they were 50-1 in reply to Minster Lov-ell’s 80 all out.

Robin Scotter took 6-37 to skittle Minster.

In Division 3, Witney Swifts went down to a ten-wicket thumping by Radley.

Mark Alder (3-3), Omar Hussain (3-18) and Darren Jones (3-20) combined to dismiss Swifts for 59, before Matt Launchbury (36no) led Radley home.

Hailey appear doomed to the drop after losing by eight wickets against Winslow Town.

Fenton Price took 4-8 and Alex Teale 4-28 to help roll Hailey over for 77. James Gaskins (58no) saw Winslow to 78-2.

Only two matches survived in Division 4.

Gary Cook claimed 6-16 as Eynsham beat Charlbury 2nd by eight wickets, Charlbury making just 73.

Kilkenny beat Brill by three wickets in Division 5.

Restricting their visitors to 132-6, Duncan Macdonald (78no) then led the way in Kilkenny’s 134-7.

Russell King took 5-5 from 7.3 overs, but it was in vain as Bampton’s clash with Chest-erton 2nd was abandoned.

King’s haul helped to skittle the visitors for 75, but Bampton were 3-0 when the heavens opened.

Ducklington crashed to a seven-wicket defeat at Chad-lington 2nd in Division 8.

Ollie Strong (4-12) was the pick of the Chadlington bowlers as Ducklington were shot out for 53, before Chadlington raced to 54-3.

Minster Lovell 3rd lost by four wickets to Kidlington 2nd in Division 9.

Steve Litten took 3-29 and Baiju Saleem 3-39 in Minster’s 170 all out, Russell Whitlock top-scoring with 61.

Kidlington then reached 171-6, Jake Townsend top-scoring with 46no.

Charlbury 3rd crashed to a ten-wicket loss at Radley 2nd.

Restricting Charlbury to 80-6, Radley raced to 83-0, David Webb scoring 60 not out.

Witney Swifts 2nd had their match against Swinbrook 2nd abandoned, after scoring 211-4.

Rob Craddock scored 87 and 15-year-old Redd Pratley 60 not out, only for rain to bring an early end.
