Roy Creighton and Jess Lawrence teamed up to defeat Oliver Buckley and Riley Stokes to land Witney Leys’ inaugural Jean Kloos Memorial Shield at Wood Green School.
Twelve pairs took part in the competition, which was set up in honour of Jean Kloos, the club’s late assistant head coach, who died from cancer last April.
Shortly before her death, Kloos was organising an in-club tournament where a senior club member teamed up with a junior member to play as a pair in a knockout event called Strictly Badminton.
The shield was presented to the winners by club chairman Norman Stewart and their head coach Judith Le Good.
