Woodstock Harriers’ James Bolton stormed to second place in the men’s race in the fourth round of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League in Cirencester on Sunday.

Bolton, who was the first vet 40 to finish, crossed the line in 33mins 44 secs, in a race won by Oxford City’s David Bruce, who finished in 32.36.

Witney Road Runners’ Dan Blake (35.14) moved to ninth in the men’s standings with an eighth-placed finish.

His teammate, Tom Offord, was tenth in 35.25.

Eynsham Road Runners’ Mark Baker was 17th in 36.12.

Woodstock Harriers’ Sophie Carter pipped Witney Road Runners’ Elysia Ridley to fourth place in the ladies’ race.

Carter crossed the line in 26.20, with Ridley fifth in 26.22.

Hannah Hole, from Eynsham Roadrunners, came home in seventh in 26.28 as she climbed to second in the senior ladies’ rankings.

Witney Road Runners’ Frankie Snare is two places behind in the standings after crossing the line ninth in 27.01.
