Eynsham's Sam Hollingshead held his nerve to take all ten wickets for Tiddington against Wolverton Town – but still finished on the losing side.

The 24-year-old seam bowler finished with figures of 10-65, becoming only the fifth player in the league’s history to bag a maximum haul.

Hollingshead’s salvo saw Wolverton Town dismissed for 189 in Saturday’s Division 2 clash, but Tiddington were then skittled for 98.

“It was disappointing because we still lost, that wasn’t so good,” said Hollingshead.

“But it was quite a big thing for me personally. “The closest I have got before was seven. They think it is probably the first time it has been done for Tidd-ington.”

Hollingshead, who works as a web designer for Web Boutiques in the west Oxfordshire village, added: “It was a quite a wet track. It was ideal for my bowling.

“I picked them up at fairly regular intervals, but still needed two wickets in the last over to get the ten.

“I got one bowled and the last one was lbw two balls before the end. “There was a big shout for the lbw.

“I was fairly confident it was out when it hit the pads and just gave it everything.” Although never expecting a full house, Hollingshead had been in confident mood.

“It was one of those things where everything has to go your way,” he said. “The bowler at the other end, Neil Smith, had a catch dropped and we missed two easy run outs.

“Everybody was going around saying ‘you’re going to get ten today, the way you are going.

“Looking at the pitch before the game, I said I am going to get at least seven.

“The Wolverton players were really good. When I came off, they all stood in a line and shook my hand.

“It was probably one of those things you will never do again.” Hollingshead is also a keen numbers man.

“I always look at my stats for the season,” he said.

“On the way to the game, I was saying that I needed 12 wickets to get 50 in the league this season.

“I ended up getting ten, so I only need two more now!”
