Great & Little Tew, on a high after reaching the Davidstow Village Cup final at Lord’s, recorded a convincing seven-wicket victory at home to Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League Division 2 leaders Reading.

The result was enough to knock the Berkshire side off the top of the table, as they suffered their second defeat in three weeks against Oxfordshire opposition. This followed their loss to Shipton-under-Wychwood.

Reading were soon regretting choosing to bat first as they slipped to 16-3, with Matt Woods taking two of the wickets.

A fourth-wicket stand of 92 between Tom Fray (48) and Andrew Rishton (69) got them back on track, before both fell in quick succession to the bowling of Joe Thomas.

The innings went into a rapid decline with three batsmen making ducks in the lower middle order.

And it was only a last-wicket stand of 22 that lifted them to 171 all out in 45th over.

Woods, who wrapped up the innings, took 3-43, while Tho-mas returned 3-31.

This left Tew plenty of time to get the runs.

They were rarely in any trouble as Joe White and Jordan Garrett put on 100 for the second wicket before the latter was out for 53.

White was there at the end, unbeaten on 71 not out, as Tew eased home in the 46th over.
