Great & Little Tew skipper Andy Harris says his side are aiming for a top-four finish when they start their Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League Division 2 campaign at Finchampstead on Saturday.

They have added Martin Coetzee from Wanderers CC in South Africa, and Matt Warner (Kingston Bagpuize) to their side, with no departures from the squad that finished fifth last season.

“We’ll be looking to again improve on last year and are aiming for a top-four finish,”

said Harris.

“The young squad is another year more experienced, so it’s great to have our 2nd facing a good challenge in Cherwell League Division 2.

“We’ve also had Joe White and Ashley Hubbert make their minor counties debuts last month, with Curtly Slatter making another appearance for the side.

“Jordan Garrett has played several games for Gloucestershire 2nd after returning from his trip to Dubai with the England under 17s.”

Meanwhile, west Oxfordshire rivals Shipton-underWychwood’s captain Simon Hole wants his side to improve on last season at home to Buckingham Town.

And he has a simple aim for the forthcoming campaign.

“We hope to improve on last year’s third-place finish,” he said.

Once again they will be able to call in the services of their overseas professional Anupam Sanklecha, who has rejoined.

They have also made a number of new signings including the Oxford duo of Hole’s brother, Stuart and Jamie Perkin, plus Matthew Brown (Shrivenham), Sam Jones (Cumnor) and Andrew Hemming (free agent).

However, Joe Barrett has left as he has to play for Bath CC as part of his Gloucestershire contract, while Ross Barrett has moved away from the area and Sasha Barrass has joined Aston Rowant.
