Two-time winners Shipton-under-Wychwood bowed out of the Davidstow Village Cup following a three-wicket defeat by Challow & Childrey in Sunday's Oxfordshire quarter-finals.

After choosing to bat first, Shipton posted 173-6, Andy Hemming's top-scoring with an undefeated 77 and a late flourish from Charlie Brain (21no).

The Challow bowlers kept things tight, especially spinners Joe Harris and Ryan Gordon, who both took 1-30 off their nine overs. Conor Jones finished with 2-52.

Shipton had Challow on the rack early on as they lost both openers with only 34 on the board.

However, Pat Bryan batted solidly making 43 and with good support from Chris Warboys and Harry Whitehead, Challow edged closer to the target, although the overs began to run out.

With 60 needed from the last ten overs, the pressure was on, but a quickfire 27no from all rounder Jones saw Challow over the line at 175-7, with four balls to spare.
