GREAT & Little Tew are Division 2 champions after a convincing six-wicket victory over local rivals Shipton-under-Wychwood.

Andy Harris’s side had already secured promotion to the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League Division 1 for the first time, but victory wrapped up the title.

Shipton avoided relegation after Cove lost to Amersham.

Tew elected to field and made an early breakthrough with Liam Manley bowling Calvin Dickinson.

Shipton recovered and a second-wicket partnership of 96 between Andrew Hemming and captain Simon Hole gave them a foothold in the match on 107-1.

However, when Robbie Shurmer dismissed Hemming (48) and Jamie Perkin within three balls of each other, the hosts were in control.

Hole (46) soon followed as Shipton lost four wickets for seven runs, Joe Thomas taking three of them, as they found themselves 135-7.

There was to be no fightback from the tailenders as Manley had both Charlie Brain and and Jeremy Kirby dismissed, before Matt Woods caught and bowled Matthew Brown as Shipton were all out for 159.

In reply, Tew lost Jordan Garrett early on, but Matthew Clark (58no) and Joe White (33) put on 47 for the second wicket.

Shaun Miller gave Shipton hope when he bowled White to leave Tew on 68-2, but the hosts were never in any bother.

Harry Smith and Curtly Slatter chipped in to assist Clark in the run chase, helping to take the visitors to 128-4.

Clark, who hit five boundaries in his 58 off 87 balls, and Ashley Hubbert then steered Tew to victory in the 33rd over and the celebrations began.
