OXFORD Downs 2nd were denied a likely victory at home to Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd in Cherwell League Division 3 after their game was abandoned due to rain.
Batting first, Downs had reached 180-3 as Amin Rafiq hit 71 not out and Darryl Woods 53 not out before the match was abandoned.
Division 2 matches featuring Downs, Sandford St Martin and Great & Little Tew 2nd were all wiped out before a ball had been bowled.
Ollie Burney took a five-wicket haul for Witney Mills before their home clash with East Oxford was rained off in Division 4.
Burney took 5-45 as East Oxford were shot out for 171, but rain forced the players off 11 overs into Mills’ reply with their score at 44-2.
l In last week’s paper, the Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd batsman was incorrectly named as Jerry Senior in the caption.
It should have been Justin Hemming. We apologise for the error.
