DAIN Moreton scored a superb century to guide Great & Little Tew to a six-wicket victory over Harefield in Division 1 of the Home Counties Premier League.

The Australian batsman, ably assisted by Curtly Slatter’s 90, made 141 off 100 balls as Tew chased down their visitors’ total of 319-9 with nine balls to spare.

Tew put Harefield i nto bat, and Lawrence Brock (4-56) removed Jack Shield and Daniel Ogden.

But Jalpesh Vijay’s century (117) and Jeet Raval (84) led the recovery for Harefield, sharing a third-wicket stand of 119 as the hosts rattled up a massive 319-9.

Tew had work to do at 91-3.

However, Moreton and Slatter put on 183 for the fourth wicket, enabling Tew to secure victory in the penultimate over.

Moreton hit 15 fours and six sixes in his innings, while Slatter hit 11 fours off 72 balls.

Meanwhile, Shipton-under-Wychwood suffered a dramatic top-order collapse on the way to a seven-wicket defeat at Horspath in Division 2.

They visitors reached 22-0 after deciding to bat before they lost four wickets for no runs in the space of 11 balls.

Adam Price triggered the collapse, having Joe Barrett caught behind by Jasper Davies, before Andrew Hemming was run out by Lloyd Belcher’s direct hit

Then both Simon Hole and Price went for ducks.

There was no way back from there for Shipton, who were bowled out for 133.

Opener Rameez Raja then hit an unbeaten 74 off 77 balls, with ten fours and three sixes, to steer Horspath to victory in 26.5 overs.
