GREAT & Little Tew suffered a heavy 107-run defeat at the hands of high-flying High Wycombe in Division 1 of the Home Counties Premier League.

George Russell top-scored with 72 as the hosts reached 208-9 in their 59 overs, despite Tew’s Joe Thomas taking 5-46.

But in reply, the visitors were dismissed for just 101 in 24.5 overs.

Tew elected to field, but Wycombe openers Gavin Baker and Garth Davson put on 76, before both fell in quick succession as the match swung Tew’s way.

Thomas, captain Andy Harris (3-67) and Lloyd Brock restricted them to 102-6.

But Russell frustrated Tew, particularly in a ninth-wicket partnership of 63 with Jonathan Burden.

In reply Tew lost Jordan Garrett for a duck, before Dain Moreton, Harrison Smith, Curtly Slatter and Brock fell quickly to leave Tew 43-5.

Robbie Catling and Joe White soon followed, before Harris and Robbie Shurmer showed some resistance to steer Tew to 79-7.

But when Harris and Liam Manley were dismissed, it was only a matter of time.

Shurmer and Thomas put on 22 runs until the former became the final man out.

Shipton-under-Wychwood also suffered disappointment, losing by 14 runs at home to Oxford in Division 2.

Samad Fallah was the key for the home side, taking 6-81.

Anupam Sanklecha had given Shipton hope of upsetting in-form Oxford, recording figures of 5-63 as they were dismissed for 190.

Shipton got themselves in a strong position on 134-3, thanks to Calvin Dickinson (71).

But after he was dismissed, the home side crumbled as Fallah proved the difference.
