AN excellent all-round display from Anupam Sanklecha could not prevent Shipton-under-Wychwood suffering a last-over defeat at Harefield in Home Counties League Division 2 on Saturday.
Sanklecha struck 92 off just 69 balls with two sixes and 11 fours to help the visitors reach 231-8, after opener Andy Hemming had laid the platform with 58.
However, a second-wicket stand of 114 between Matthew Ogden and Dhavalkumar Norotam put Harefield on course for victory.
Sanklecha (3-30) did his best to stem the tide, but the hosts won with four wickets and four balls to spare to send Shipton to their second successive defeat.
Harefield 20pts, Shipton 7
After last week’s win over Henley, Great & Little Tew lost by nine wickets at Slough.
Put in to bat, Tew slumped to 49-6 and did well to see out their 50 overs.
Andy Harris led the way with an unbeaten 51 as they battled to 155-8.
Slough, with unbeaten half-centuries from Fahim Qureshi and Lloyd Paternott, got home in the 39th over, despite a top spell of 1-12 from ten overs by left-arm spinner Joe Thomas.
Slough 20pts, Great Tew 3
