SAM Haselgrove had the perfect day for Witney Mills as he virtually single-handedly led his side to a 52-run win at home to Brackley in Cherwell League Division 4.

Mills were struggling at 72-5, but an unbroken club record sixth-wicket stand of 174 between Haselgrove and captain Mike Dove saw them to 246-5.

Haselgrove’s 117 not out contained 12 fours and six sixes.

The youngster then took 4-76 and Steve Kelly 3-28 as Brackley fell to 194 all out.

Leaders Minster Lovell marched on with a seven-wicket victory at home to Tiddington 2nd.

Leigh Smith took 3-34 and Jack Simpson 3-45 to dismiss the visitors for 165, Matt Maule top-scoring with 50.

In reply, Minster eased to 166-3 in the 36th over, with Simpson making 54 not out and skipper Harry Ebsworth 49.

Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd lost by six wickets at Stokenchurch.

Josh Triggs took 6-66 as Shipton were shot out in the 34th over for111, before Ashley Hunt (44no) steered Stokenchurch to 113-4.

In Division 1, Oxford Downs lost by three wickets away to title-chasing Banbury 2nd.

Downs were restricted to 167 all out as Jimmy Phillips took 3-23 and Ross Freeman 3-37.

Banbury’s reply was led by Mark Pallett, who struck a superb 74 not out as they reached 171-7 with two overs to spare.

Great & Little Tew 2nd went down by six wickets at home to Challow & Childrey in Division 2.

Tew recovered from a precarious 65-5 to total 172-7, thanks largely to a 99-run six-wicket stand between Jack Belmont (54) and Ian Bryan (43no)

The visitors made light work of the run chase with Ryan Gordon hitting 41 as they got home in 37 overs.

In Division 3, Oxford Downs 2nd lost by three wickets at home to Westbury, despite a fine all-round display from Nick Rivett.

Downs were bowled out for 190, with Nick Rivett scoring 52 and Graeme Coates 46.

Graham Judd claimed 5-34 for Westbury, who reached 192-7 with seven overs to spare to wrap up victory, despite a spell of 3-31 from Rivett.

Great & Little Tew 3rd are still looking for their first victory in Division 6 after losing by five wickets away to Oxford & Bletchingdon 2nd.

Rustam Rabani took 6-32 to skittle Tew for just 91, and then Nondies eased to 94-5 in the 26th over.

In Division 8, Shipton-under-Wychwood 3rd were bowled out for 220 at home to Didcot 3rd, Justin Hemming top-scoring with 79.

However, Didcot had no problems chasing the target, Viraj Perera hitting 104 not out and Paul Costello 64 to steer them to 224-4.
