SAM Jones’s brilliant 129 was not enough to see Eynsham into the OCA’s Airey Cup semi-finals as they fell to a one-wicket defeat at home to Chipping Norton.

Eynsham set a formidable 265-6.

But Rhys Warner-Carter (74) ensured Chippy kept up with the required rate, and they won off the final ball of the match.

In the OCA League, Charlbury thumped hosts Wolvercote by 112 runs to stay clear at the top of Division 1.

Stuart Atkins top-scored with 57 in Charlbury’s 242-9, before Josh Hornsby took 4-28 to help dismiss the home side for 130.

In Division 2, a mature 82 from youngster Ben Weller helped Eynsham to an 80-run win at Chadlington.

Ben Wagerfield chipped in with 69 in Eynsham’s 192-6, and then Mark Weller claimed 4-22 and Sam Hollingshead 3-25 as Chadlington were bowled out for 112.

Jim McGeown’s haul of 5-33 helped Chipping Norton to a five-wicket win at Marsh Gibbon.

Marsh were dismissed for 176, Julian Chambers top-scoring with 55, before Ian Widdows hit 73 to steer Chippy to 178-5.

Kilkenny eased past Middleton Cheney by 69 runs in Division 3.

Josh Bishop (66) helped Kilkenny to 175-8 and then Tom Valentine took 4-24 in Middleton’s 106 all out.

Hanborough eased past hosts Stanton Harcourt by six wickets.

Stanton set 203-7 in their 45 overs, before Jonathan Ayris (71) and Will Potter (66no) took Hanborough to 207-4.

In Division 4, Swinbrook suffered a heavy 270-run defeat against Brill.

Harry Wilson slammed 150 and Andy Wynd 81 as Brill amassed 318-5, before skittling Swinbrook out for a paltry 48 as Tom Broughton took 6-8.

Combe kept up the pressure near the top of Division 5 with a 15-run win at Great Horwood 2nd.

Josh Lenthall top-scored with 72 as Combe set 219 all out.

Dan Brown (65) and Simon Gale (58) got Horwood close, but they finished just short on 204-8.

Father and son Steve and George Townsend shone for Ducklington in their 50-run win at Hailey & West Witney.

George Townsend hit 75 in Ducklington’s 225 all out, and then dad Steve took 4-31 to help dismiss the hosts for 175, Cory Kearsley top-scoring with 50.

Jordan Glazier took 4-19 and hit an unbeaten 52 as Hook Norton beat Britwell Salome by four wickets.

In Division 6, Charlbury 2nd racked up a massive 316-5 to earn a 114-run win against visitors East & West Hendred 2nd.

Charlie Sinton top-scored with 98, while there were also contributions from Andy Glass (66no), Ayan Chakravartty (66) and Tim Jarvis (54).

Hendred were then restricted to 202-9 in their reply, William Bennett hitting 55.

Stephen Cooper took 6-23 to help Eynsham 2nd to a nine-wicket win against visitors Stanton Harcourt 2nd in Division 7.

Cooper’s haul sent Stanton tumbling to 46 all out, before Eynsham eased to 50-1.

Andy Cross hit 96 not out as leaders Middleton Cheney 2nd were too strong for visitors Kilkenny 2nd, running out 129-run victors.

Division 8 North leaders Charlbury 3rd were topped by six wickets by Chadlington 2nd, who leapfrogged them to top spot.

Charlbury posted 228-6, Abi Flory top-scoring with 54 not out.

Glenn McCallum then hit 73 not out and George Chipchase 58 to steer Chadlington to 229-4.
