CAPTAIN Josh Garrett played a starring role with a brilliant unbeaten century as Great & Little Tew 2nd chased down a mammoth target to beat hosts Didcot by four wickets in Cherwell League Division 2.

Didcot set a formidable total of 300-7 in their 50 overs, Dan Swindells hitting 84 and Elliot Matthews 88.

But Garrett then slammed 115 not out in just 80 balls to lead his side to 303-6 with just five balls remaining, his knock containing 16 fours and five sixes.

Sandford St Martin lost by 59 runs in a high-scoring affair at Buckingham Town 2nd.

The hosts won the toss and racked up 331-9 in their 50 overs, with Anthony Romaine smashing a brilliant 144 and Tom Goffe claiming 5-60.

Mark Robey (66) and Ian Reynolds (64) gave Sandford hope of a remarkable run chase.

But they fell to 272 all out as Ben Laycock took 4-42.

Oxford Downs fell to a two-wicket defeat at Dinton in a thrilling Division 1 clash.

Batting first, Downs set a competitive 226-7, Will Watts top-scoring with 55.

Wasim Mehmood (3-39) shone with the ball as Dinton lost regular wickets, but 71 from Brennan Gough – son of former England paceman Darren – saw Dinton home at 231-8.

Stuart Berry’s haul of 7-60 could not stop Division 4 leaders Minster Lovell recording a 119-run victory over Horspath 2nd.

Minster declared on 240-7 in the 51st over, makeshift opener Elliott Graham top-scoring with 75, while all the wickets fell to Berry.

Horspath then fell to 121 all out in their reply, Eddie Dunn taking 3-23.

Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd lost by six wickets at home to Tiddington 2nd

Colin Bird took 4-31 as Shipton were dismissed for 157.

Jacob Davis then hit 63 and Jon Talbot 31 not out to steer Tiddington to 161-4 in the 26th over.

Witney Mills lost by five wickets at home to basement team Dinton 2nd.

Mike Dove top-scored with 37 in Mills’s 178-8, Usman Manawar taking 4-24.

Saqeeb Ghanzhar then hit 81 not out to lead Dinton to 181-5.

Jim Howe’s spectacular 129 not out and three-wicket haul was in vain as Sandford St Martin 2nd lost by seven wickets at home to Great & Little Tew 3rd in Division 6.

Howe’s brilliant century allowed Sandford to declare on 246-3 after 46 overs.

But this proved to be a somewhat “sporting” declaration as visitors Tew used 49.5 overs to reach 247-3 and wrap up victory, Sam Barnes hitting 72 not out, Jamie Shurmer 61 and Tom Young 52 not out.

Division 8 leaders Shipton-under-Wychwood 3rd enjoyed a four-wicket win at Abingdon Vale 3rd.

Vale set 219-9 in their 45 overs, but Blake Richardson then scored a magnificent 102 to steer Shipton to 220-6.

There were centuries for Twyford 3rd’s Billy Harper and Oxford Downs 3rd’s Tom Gould in a high-scoring draw.

Harper hit 122 in Twyford’s 297-8 dec, before youngster Gould struck 111 in Downs’s reply as they reached 265-8.
