SANDFORD St Martin were on the receiving end of a spectacular century from Challow & Childrey captain Ryan Gordon in the Cherwell League.

Gordon slammed an outstanding 150 to help Challow to a 126-run victory on the Duckworth Lewis Stern method in a rain-affected Division 2 match.

Sandford skipper Chris Thompson opted to insert Challow.

But although the home side got rid of opener Jack Chapman relatively cheaply, they were soon made to rue the decision as Gordon dominated proceedings.

He shared a second-wicket stand of 168 with Patrick Bryan, who hit 66.

But it was Gordon who really shone, bludgeoning 16 fours and eight sixes off 98 balls, which saw Challow up to 306-8 in their 50 overs.

Tom Goffe and Tom Rothwell took two wickets apiece for the home side.

Sandford slumped to 46-3 with Steve Dobson, Tom Tanner and Ian Reynolds swiftly being sent back to the pavilion.

Despite a 110-run stand between opener Jim Howe (54nol) and skipper Thompson (67), there was no way back.

As the rain began to fall, the match ended in the 40th over with Sandford on 180-4 – resulting in a comprehensive victory on the DLS for the visitors.

Great & Little Tew 2nd suffered a 54-run defeat at home to Oxford 2nd on DLS.

Arthur Muir’s 100 not out helped the visitors to 226-7.

Tew lost regular wickets, finishing on 172-7 in the 41st over to slip to defeat.

Oxford Downs were denied a chance of victory by the rain at Tiddington in Division 1.

Batting first, Downs set 234-7 in their 50 overs, Frankie Crouch hitting 76.

Harry Sutton claimed 3-24 in Tiddington’s reply as they slipped to 45-4, before the match was called off.

In Division 3, Oxford Downs 2nd fell to a 58-run defeat on the DLS method at home to Cublington.

Batting first, the visitors were bowled out for 191, Calum Gunning hitting 52.

Downs were quickly three wickets down in their reply, putting them well behind the par score.

Witney Mills defied the wet weather to post a comprehensive six-wicket win at home to Bletchley Town to close the gap on the leading pack in Division 4.

Mills’ skipper Mike Dove inserted Bletchley, and they quickly ran through the card, dismissing the visitors for 141.

Ollie Burney was the pick of the attack with 5-65, while Ben Madden took 3-35.

In reply, Mills reached 142-4 for an easy win as Sam Haselgrove hit 47 and Sam Buckley 33.

Minster Lovell’s match at Thame Town 2nd ended in an abandonment as rain ruined the day.

Batting first, Minster declared on 255-4 in the 49th over, Jack Simpson hitting 72 not out and Connor Tinsley 68.

Thame were 40-0 when the heavens opened.
