OXFORD Downs all but condemned Horspath 2nd to relegation from Division 1 of the Cherwell League with a five-wicket victory.

Wasim Mehmood claimed 4-19 and Tom Costley (pictured) 3-26 to skittle hosts Horspath for 116 all out in the 41st over.

Jason Cardy took 3-17 for Horspath, but Downs reached 119-5 to wrap up victory, leaving Horspath 70 points adrift with only 75 available.

Sandford St Martin are only three points above the Division 2 drop zone after Adam Hall’s excellent unbeaten century helped visitors Oxford 2nd inflict a 126-run defeat.

Hall’s 107no was backed up by Mark Beer (56) and Arthur Muir (53), allowed Oxford to declare on 265-5 in 50 overs.

In reply, Sandford had no answer to Joe Porter (6-35) as they slumped to 139 all out.

Great & Little Tew 2nd are now breathing down Sandford’s neck following a comprehensive seven-wicket win at home to basement boys Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts.

Curtly Slatter was Tew’s all-round star, taking 4-52 in Nondies’ 198-8, Joe Butler hitting 72.

Slatter then hit 93 to steer Tew home at 199-3, Josh Garrett also chipping in with 54 not out.

Oxford Downs 2nd were edged out by one wicket in a Division 3 thriller at home to Horley.

James Ellwood’s 82, plus 47 from Darryl Woods, saw Oxford Downs 2nd to 191-8.

Horley lost regular wickets in their reply, with Steve Roberts (4-43) the main destroyer, but Nick Tarrant (38) got Horley to 192-9 with three overs to spare.

Minster Lovell’s Division 4 title hopes suffered a massive setback at Bletchley Town.

Only Eddie Dunn and James Merriman reached double figures in their 68 all out.

Dunn (4-7) injected some tension, but Bletchley reached 69-6, meaning Minster lost top spot for the first time.

Veteran Malcolm Evans made 88 as Witney Mills beat Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd by 69 runs.

Evans and Sam Buckfield (80) helped Mills to a formidable 261-9 dec off 51 overs, Rob Panting taking 4-51 and Joe Cockroft 3-62.

The early declaration proved crucial as Mills, who had a point deducted for a slow over rate, dismissed Shipton after 48.2 overs, Ben Madden taking 4-22 and Ollie Burney 3-64.

Simon Dickens took 5-39 for Shipton-under-Wychwood 3rd, which helped them to a seven-wicket win at home to Oxford 4th in Division 8.

Oxford were shot out for 92 as Dickens held sway.

Blake Richardson then struck 68 not out to lead Shipton to 93-3 in the 20th over.
