CRICKET: Sandford slump to defeat

Sandford St Martin are heading for Division 3 of the Cherwell League while their conquerors on Saturday could be going in the opposite direction.

Twyford returned to the top of Division 4 by dismissing Sandford for 88, with left-arm spinner Bilal Afzal claiming 4-10.

Josh Goff’s 34 helped the hosts reach 91-4.

l Twyford 25pts, Sandford St Martin 4 Piers Myatt took 5-32 to help Great & Little Tew 2nd dismiss Hanborough for 134 in Division 4.

Only Matty Gorman (34) hung around for long.

Tew cruised to 135-4 inside 32 overs, Rob Garrett making 44.

l Hanborough 6, Gt & Little Tew 2nd 25 Great & Little Tew 3rd also managed to defend a low score in Division 7.

Tew made 122-9 against Abingdon Vale 3rd, thanks largely to Jordan Garrett’s 57 not out.

Adrian White took 6-40 to leave Vale well-placed, but his batsmen could not back him up and they crumbled to 85 all out. Will Woodward took 3-10.
