Simon Watkins bagged six wickets as Oxford Downs beat relegated Bletchley Town in Cherwell League Division 1 at home.

In an outstanding all round display from Watkins took 6-56 in Bletchley’s 154 all out before hitting 60 in Downs’ reply.

James Ellwood top-scored with 68 not out as the hosts reached 155-4 in the 36th.

Oxford Downs 25, Bletchley Town 6 Oxford Downs 2nd beat Long Marston by 89 runs as both teams were relegated to Division 3.

Tom Costley (58no) and Wes Bartlett got Downs to 192-7.

Pete Toovey took 4-72 and James Beesley picked up 3-48.

Steve Roberts (4-56) made early inroads, before Darren Johnson took 4-14 as Marston crumbled to 103 all out.

Long Marston 4, Ox Downs 2nd 25 Aston Rowant 2nd completed their great escape by beating Sandford St Martin by five wickets.

Tim Foster took 4-47 as Sandford succumbed for 136, with Chris Thompson (55) the top scorer by far.

Simon Smith (3-46) picked up some late wickets, but by then Andrew Tolson (54) and Mark Walker (34) had put the result beyond doubt, and Rowant reached 138-5 in the 32nd over.

Sandford St M 7, A Rowant 2nd 25 Witney Mills are relegated from Division 3 after a draw against Bledlow Village.

Adam Mould’s majestic 127 not out allowed Bledlow to declare after 47 overs on 221-9.

Pierre Lefort was easily the best bowler for Mills, finishing with 5-32.

Both sides went for the win after tea, and the home side closed on 221-9.

l Witney Mills 14, Bledlow Village 17 Ben Keeping claimed 6-48 as Bledlow Ridge dismissed Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd for 130.

Only Oliver Clayfield (49) managed to stand firm in the onslaught.

Earlier, Ridge had reached 157 despite Joe Cockroft taking 4-51 and James McLaren picking up 3-32.

Bledlow Ridge 25, Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd 7 Hanborough were hammered by nine wickets at Stokenchurch as they bowed out of the Cherwell League with defeat in Division 4.

John McGrady hit 50as they were all out for 160.

Paul Maddock (5-48) and Arshad Latif (4-28) were always in command. Latif then hit 86 and Joe Brown was 60 not out when Stokenchurch reached 161-1 in only 22.2 overs.

Hanborough were deducted five points for failing to provide a scorer – so ended the day with one fewer point than they started.

Stokenchurch 25, Hanborough -1 Chris Hickman (4-36) and Josh Garrett (4-70) joined forces as Great & Little Tew 2nd bowled out Wallingford for 207.

Tom Wigley (72) and Rob Sessions (44) were the mainstays for the visitors, then spinners Warren Ainsworth (4-66) and Mark Carey (4-81) almost bowled them to victory.

But Robbie Catling (39) and Garrett (30) did just enough as Tew closed on 175-9.

Great & Little Tew 2nd 8, Wallingford 19 Steve Wilson took eight of the nine Kingston Bagpuize 2nd wickets to fall as Oxford Downs 3rd ensured second place and promotion from Division 8.

Downs went into the game eight points ahead of their rivals and set a tar get of 181-7 with Graham Coates (66) and Ian Caunce (44).

Wilson returned 8-41 as Kingston could manage only 126-9 in reply, meaning Downs will be playing in Division 7 next season.
