FOOTBALL: Janes hat-trick is key to Witney win

Witney Town, spearheaded by a hat-trick from Mark Janes, romped home 8-0 at Shrivenham to move back up to second in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday.

The visitors were on top from the moment they took a fourth-minute lead through Janes.

But they had to wait until the 32nd minute before Conor McDonagh smashed in their second on the half-volley.

Three goals in four minutes just after half-time settled the game as a contest. Janes played in McDonagh for his second of the game, and 18th of the season.

Then Jermaine Ferreira and Janes added quickfire goals to make it 5-0.

Janes completed his treble by poking the ball home, before Ryan Brooks netted twice in the last five minutes to seal the rout.
