Tower Hill Ladies moved up to second in the Southern Region League Northern Division 1 table with a thumping 6-1 win at Fleet Town.

It made it back to back wins for the visitors following last week’s victory against New Forest to move them to within six points of leaders Banbury United.

However, they got off to the worst possible start after Elizabeth Farrant gave the hosts an early lead.

Tower responded perfectly, with Lisa Freeman levelling with a fine individual goal.

Samantha Bevan-Talbot doubled their lead after robbing a defender, before Carly Thomas headed in No 3 from Katie Wright’s corner.

After the break, Sophie Grimson made it 4-1 after cutting in from the right wing and calmly placing a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Thomas bagged Tower Hill’s fifth goal with her second header of the game from another Wright corner.

Lauren Major completed the turnaround, with a cool finish after she broke the offside trap to open her account for the season.

This Sunday, Tower Hill are away to Andover New Street.
