LIAM Sercombe is in the mood for more goals after breaking his second target of the season for Oxford United.

The midfielder’s best return for previous club Exeter City was seven goals, but last weekend’s strike against Hartlepool United was the 16th in his debut campaign for the U’s.

Sercombe hit his pre-season target of eight before the end of October, prompting him to revise it to 15.

The 26-year-old’s effort against Hartlepool ensured that mark, plus the club’s aim for central midfielders, was surpassed.

But Sercombe is not planning on easing off.

He said: “We had a target for central midfielders to hit 15 league goals. We’ve done that.

“I’ve got 13 league goals now and Lunny (John Lundstram) has three.

“We said (before Hartlepool) hopefully we could get two more by the end of the season, so there’s one and hopefully I can score in both games.

“I want to help this team get promoted – it’s the best feeling you’ll ever go through.”
