OXFORD United will have an eye on how their promotion rivals are getting on tomorrow in case it impacts on how they finish the game.
Michael Appleton’s men have the luxury of knowing a victory against Wycombe Wanderers will see them playing in Sky Bet League One next season, regardless of results elsewhere.
Any other result would allow Bristol Rovers to leapfrog the U’s with victory at home to Dagenham & Redbridge.
But there is a scenario – if Accrington Stanley lost to Stevenage – where a draw would get them across the line.
Appleton’s focus for most of the afternoon will be on ensuring United take care of their game.
But the head coach acknowledged he would have to stay abreast of what was required late on if the scores were level against the Chairboys.
He said: “I think it would be unprofessional of me not to know what was going on elsewhere.
“We want to win the game and if we do it’s job done, but if we don’t it still might be enough.
“What we don’t want to do is, if we’re drawing, piling everyone forward in injury time thinking we need a winner whereas a point might be enough.
“The first time I’ll probably ask about what’s going on elsewhere will be the 85th minute.
“Up until then it will be about what we do and trying to win the game.
“From there it probably is important to know what is going on and trying to manage it as best as we can.”
