BANBURY United suffered a 2-0 defeat at Slough Town in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division last night.

Mike Ford’s side were arguably on top in the early stages of the second half, before twice conceding.

Guy Hollis headed home at the far post to give Slough the lead on 64 minutes.

And with Banbury pushing forward looking for an equaliser, the hosts made the game safe late on.

After Andy Gunn fouled Lewis Putman as Slough broke in the 86th minute, James Dobson’s resulting free-kick took a deflection and found the net to seal victory.

Kidlington went down 2-1 against Hanwell Town in Division 1 Central.

The visitors took the lead through Zak Joseph, only for Anaclet Odhiambo to draw Kidlington level on the stroke of half-time.

But Joseph bagged his second of the game with 14 minutes remaining to give the hosts victory.

The Oxfordshire derby in Division 1 South & West between Wantage Town and North Leigh lasted just 20 minutes.

A mistake from Millers goalkeeper Manny Agboola allowed struggling Wantage to take a tenth-minute lead through Mark Francis.

But with the playing surface getting harder, the referee called off the match shortly afterwards.

Didcot Town’s clash against Evesham United was also postponed because of a frozen pitch.
