NORTH Leigh boss John Brough wants his side to repeat their heroics of last season when their Emirates FA Cup campaign gets under way at Uhlsport Hellenic League side Highmoor Ibis tomorrow.

Brough’s side went all the way to the fourth qualifying round last season, and their boss is hopeful that they can have a similar run, or better this season.

“Last season, our cup runs were really enjoyable,” Brough said ahead of the preliminary round clash.

“It’s definitely something we will try to emulate.

“But we know it will be tough. Highmoor will have seen our result last Saturday (a 5-2 loss to Bristol Manor Farm), and will be up for it.

“I gather they are quite a physical side, and will fancy their chances.”

Brough includes new signing, midfielder Sam Mendes for tomorrow’s trip after he missed the opening week of the season on honeymoon.

Brough was upbeat after his side’s midweek draw against Swindon Supermarine, and hopeful that his side can progress on Saturday.

“If we show the signs that we did second half in midweek, we can definitely start a run.

He added: “From a financial point of view, this is a huge game for the club.”

Didcot Town travel to Hellenic League side Flackwell Heath.

They bounced back from Saturday’s loss at Bideford with a 4-2 win at home to Wimborne in midweek, and boss Andy Ballard was delighted with the display.

“Tuesday night’s performance and result was a perfect response to our opening day defeat,” he said.

“It sets us up well for what will be a tough trip to Flackwell.”

Ballard names an unchanged squad.

Kidlington host fellow Oxfordshire side Wantage Town at Yarnton Road.

Julian McCalmon’s side are unbeaten this season and have some selection problems.

Striker Anaclet Odhiambo is getting married, meaning several other first-team members will be attending.

Thame United will be bidding to bounce back from their 3-0 home reverse at the hands of AFC Rushden & Diamonds in midweek when they travel to Uxbridge.
