FREELAND defeated Horspath 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out to reach the semi-finals of the Oxfordshire Charity Cup.

In a high-scoring match, the teams finished 5-5 after extra-time.

The shoot-out saw Freeland keeper Adam Lonsdale save two penalties, before Rob Keylock scored the decisive spot-kick.

It was an extraordinary win for last year’s beaten finalists, who fought back from 3-0 down after 20 minutes.

They levelled the match and looked like snatching normal time victory when going ahead 4-3 in the 88th minute.

But Horspath equalised a minute later to take the match into extra-time.

The visitors regained the lead, before Freeland, for whom Danny Taylor scored a hat-trick, netted late on to take the match to penalties.

Their other goals came from Jason Lonsdale and Tom Parker.

Horspath’s tally came from Henry Bone, Tom Chase, Chris Peck, Luke Cuff and an own goal.

There was a more straightforward victory for Hanborough, who brushed aside Marston Saints to reach the last four.

A Jack Morton treble was the highlight, with Craig Johnson (2) and Dan Haggie scoring the others.

The Premier Division leaders recorded a 6-0 home victory to go seven points clear.

The hosts led 4-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Dan Watkin, Aaron Dineen, Luc Thornton and a Dan Reeves penalty.

Reeves added a second after the break and Chris Horn netted their sixth.
