FOOTBALL: Treble for Charley as Carterton seal crown

A Charley Hamilton hat-trick ensured that Carterton gained the three points they needed with a 4-2 win over Swindon Town to clinch the Oxford Mail Girls League Under 16 title ahead of rivals Oxford City.

Swindon proved tough opponents and took an early lead through Pia Donaldson.

But Carterton’s goal power proved too much for the visitors as Laura Jones added their forth.

Natalie Evans notched Swindon’s second.

Oxford City beat North Leigh 6-1 to finish level on points with Carterton, but Carterton were crowned champions by virtue of better head-to-head results against City.

Carterton play City in the Oxfordshire FA Under 16 Cup final this Sunday at Witney Town (1pm).

Tower Hill Vixens saw off Swindon Spitfires 8-0 in the Under 15 league, taking full advantage of their opponents being a player short.

Suzy Halsey (3), Jazz Alder (2), Isobel Haig, Milly Foxcroft and Carla Wood were on target for Vixens, who led 5-0 at the break Tower Hill Vixens Blues went down 2-0 to Banbury in the Under 11 League.

In the Under 10 League, Tower Hill Vixens put in a spirited performance against Oxford City, before going down 6-1 with Holly Evans on the mark.
