HAT-TRICK hero Karl Williams was the toast of Carterton A after they beat Chipping Norton Swifts 4-2 in the Oxfordshire Junior Shield final at Kidlington.

All Williams’s goals – with super strikes – came in the first half as Carterton raced into a 3-0 lead.

Williams has played most of the season in midfield, but was pushed up front by manager Toby Longman.

Fellow Witney & District League side Swifts fought bravely back to make it 3-2 at the break thanks to a brace from Reece Bayliss.

But a fourth goal for Carterton, scored by Craig Wighton direct from a free-kick early in the second half, settled an excellent tie.

A bad injury to Chippy striker Bayliss, who dislocated his ankle, curtailed any chance of a comeback and Carterton eased home.

This was Carterton’s first success in the competition since 1986.
