Clanfield pushed Thame United all the way before bowing out 3-2 in the FA Carlsberg Vase first qualifying round at the ASM Stadium.
Steve Olphert gave Clan-field the lead from a free-kick, only for Mitchell Meredith to equalise with a penalty. Dan West put Thame ahead early in the second half, but Clanfield hit back when Ben Williams headed home a Chris Blakely cross.
But Meredith’s second goal, from a header, ended Clan-field’s brave challenge.
2nd qualifying round draw: Amersham Tn v Carterton, Holmer Green v Witney Tn. Ties to be played on Sept 15.
