Witney Town’s Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division title hopes suffered a blow as they went down to a shock 1-0 defeat at strugglers Highworth Town.

With time running out, it looked as the visitors would have to settle for a share of the spoils.

However, Clark’s injury-time strike ear-ned the hosts only their third victory of the season. Ryan Welland’s pass found Clark who controlled it before beating keeper Alan Foster with a low shot, the ball going in off the far post.

The result saw Witney slip down to sixth, ten points behind leaders Marlow.

The hosts edged of the first half, with Witney keeper Alan Foster making a good save from Ryan Welland, with Aaron Maximen heading Chris Flanagan’s cross over the bar.

Witney’s best chances came from Ryan Brooks, whose shot was cleared off the line by Liam Williams while James Dobson’s well-struck effort was saved by keeper Ryan Griggs.

The visitors suffered a blow when James Dobson went off injured. However, that made little difference as Witney continued to turn up the pressure.

Brooks had a great opportunity to put his side ahead 20 minutes from time when he fastened on to a through ball before shooting straight at Ryan Griggs in the Highfield goal.

Conor McDonagh then saw a penalty appeal rejected before he shot wide from a tight angle.

At the other end, Steve Robertson should have broken the deadlock, but mis-kicked after breaking through on goal.

Foster then denied Brad Clark and it looked as though Witney would hold on for a point. But Clark’s late strike won it for the lowly hosts.

Clanfield crashed 6-3 at Cricklade Town in Division 1 West.

Nicholas Christodolou (2) and Ben Williams netted for Clanfield, with Jack Allan (2), Ben Carter (2), Gareth Davies and Antony Hogg replying.

Jack Quainton bagged a brace as Old Woodstock Town saw off New College Swindon 4-1. James Lambert and Alan Robinson were their other scorers.
