First published in Local Football

Ben Simpson scored a penalty winner as Tower Hill Stars came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Bloxham in their first Giles Sports Under 14 A Witney Youth League success of the season.

Sloppy defending allowed Vincent McGibbon to give Bloxham the lead, before Jake Bedlow made it 2-0 just before the break.

A few minutes into the second half, Alfie Hester clawed a goal back for the hosts, with Chris Godfrey levelling.

And the comeback was complete when Tower skipper Simpson made it 3-2 from the penalty spot after a Bloxham defender handled.

Tower Hill then held out for victory despite a few nervy moments.

Eynsham Youth defeated Char-lton & District 4-0 in the second round of the Knockout Cup, thanks to a Luke Coles double and strikes from Quin Brown and Nick Victory.

Ethan Barrett scored a hat-trick as Witney Vikings Youth saw off Bicester Town Colts 5-2 in the D League.

Josh Griffiths weighed in with a double.

Tower Hill had to be satisfied with a point after being held to a 4-4 draw at Bardwell in the Under 12 A League.

Tower Hill opened their account when Jordan Thomas lobbed the ball over the Bardwell keeper, with a Kyle Rawlins header doubling their lead.

However, Bardwell clawed one back through James Davis, only for Sam Taylor to make it 3-1 to Tower Hill.

Jimmy Kimani’s header cut Tower Hill’s lead, before Ryan Costello equalised.

Thomas restored Tower Hill’s advantage to complete his brace, only for Hamish Hall to grab a point with a penalty late on.

Oliver Laughton scored a treble as Stonesfield Strikers edged to a 3-2 win at Bampton Town in the Under 11 Green League.

Laughton’s heroics put his side 3-0 up and although Mitchell Constable and Jude Clayton cut the visitors’ lead, Stonesfield held on.

A hat-trick from Joseph Langdon helped Carterton Town to a 4-1 win away to Carterton Town Colts in the Under 10 Green League. Harris Birch completed their tally.

Goals from Declan O’Brien, Mackenzie Geal and Ross Henderson sealed a 3-0 win for Bampton Town at Moreton Rangers in the Under 9 White League.
