A superb display from Carterton keeper Mike Hedges earned them a goalless draw at Clanfield in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West.

It looked as though Carterton would end up empty-handed when Craig Mays burst through on goal in the last minute, but Hedges made a fine save to take a point.

Hedges was called into action just before the half-hour mark with a fine save, while at the other end Carterton’s Ben Fitzmartin shot over from the edge of the area.

The visitors had a strong penalty appeal rejected on 38 minutes when Lewis Brown-hill was upended.

After the break, though, Michael Duerden, Brownhill and Chris Mills had chances to win it for Carterton, but home keeper Jamie Zoldan was equal to their efforts.

Hedges then performed his last-minute heroics against Mays as Carterton grabbed a share of the spoils.

A goal from Craig Robinson was in vain as Old Wood-stock Town lost 2-1 at Hook Norton for whom Jamie Wyatt and Mark Dennis were on target.

North Leigh Res suffered a 6-0 home thrashing by Fairford Town Res.

Alex Rudd (2), Dan Drewett (2), Bradley Gill and an own goal completed Fairford’s tally.
