Defender Zak Westlake scored a hat-trick as North Leigh romped to a 6-0 victory against the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West strugglers at Eynsham Park.

The result saw Mark Gee’s side move up to eighth in the table and three points off the play-off places.

North Leigh started strongly and after defender Matt Magee blocked Morgan Williams’s shot on the line, the hosts went ahead.

Jon Else’s free kick fell to Jamie Cook whose shot was parried by Steve Benbow, only for Westlake to lash in the rebound at the far post.

Brian Bowles, Callum McNish and Cook were denied by Benbow before the hosts doubled the lead.

McNish saw his well-struck shot kept out by Benbow, but Cook pounced to head home.

North Leigh went 3-0 up within ten minutes of the restart. Bowles whipped in a low cross that Williams tapped in from close range.

Three minutes later, a chip from Bowles found Westlake who fired in.

Westlake completed his hat-trick with the Millers’ fifth, with a bullet header from Williams’s cross.

They completed the rout 12 minutes from time when Benbow misjudged a header from Andy Gunn and allowed substitute Araon Woodley a tap-in.

Meanwhile, Officials will carry out a pitch inspection ahead of Didcot Town’s trip to Fleet Town in today’s Division 1 South & West clash at 9am.
