Rachel Appleton helped herself to a hat-trick as Stonesfield Strikers won 4-0 at Kidlington in the Oxford Mail Girls Under 12 League.

The visitors took control early on and there was little surprise when they went ahead, Appleton firing in the first of her tally following a flowing move.

The Kidlington goalkeeper struggled in the wet conditions and Appleton took full advantage to double her tally.

Emma Saville then made it 3-0 with a good finish.

Kidlington tried to get back into the contest after the break, but were thwarted by some stout Stonesfield defending.

Charlbury battled back from a goal down as they drew 1-1 at home to Oxford City in the Under 11 League, both the goals coming in the second half.

Victoria Traff fired the hosts into the lead early in the second half, but Annabel Jenkins levelled for Charlbury with a fine individual goal.

Charging forward from her own half, she then unleashed a powerful shot into the far corner of the net.

Oxford City almost won it at the death, but Charlbury’s keeper Elizabeth Ashton made a super save.

Zak Farrow helped himself to a double as North Leigh reached the quarter-finals of the Oxford Mail Youth League Under 15 Knockout Cup with a 6-3 home win against Marston Saints on Saturday.

Jake Denton, Finlay Heritage, Taylor Southam and Brendan Neale completed North Leigh’s tally to make it eight games unbeaten.

Marston replied with a brace from Arthur Galley and a further strike from Rowan Allison-Drake.

It followed North Leigh’s 5-1 comeback win at Garsington Youth in the league last week.

Tayler Wain fired the hosts in front early on, but Harvey Savin’s penalty levelled it up before the break.

In the second half, Jake Denton gave North Leigh the lead when he headed Ryna Holmes’s precise corner into the net.

Zak Farrow, Ross Parker and Finlay Heritage completed the comeback.
