Lisa Freeman scored a double as Tower Hill Ladies charged up to second in the Southern Region Women’s League with a thrilling 4-3 home win against Chesham United at West Witney Sports Ground on Sunday.

It avenged the hosts’ 5-2 mauling they suffered at the hands of the Buckinghamshire side back in December’s Northern Division 1 clash.

But they made hard work of it, charging into a 4-1 lead, before they relaxed and allowed Chesham to hit back with two late goals.

Tower Hill were out of the blocks quickly and went ahead with only three minutes gone.

Lisa Freeman’s superb diagonal ball found Samantha Bevan-Talbot, who took it around the keeper before firing into the empty net.

The home side kept up the pressure and doubled the lead on 18 minutes.

Katie Wright floated in a corner and Lisa Freeman fired home at the far post.

However, just before the break, Chesham pulled one back through Sarah Tyas.

That shook Tower Hill up and they came out in determined fashion in the second half.

And the pressure told when the hosts went 3-1 up.

Sophie Grimson burst down the wing before cutting in and beat two defenders before slotting home.

A minute later, Tower Hill took a 4-1 lead.

Wright won the ball in midfield before her great through ball found Freeman, who finished coolly in the bottom corner to complete her double.

That should have been it, but Tower Hill allowed Chesham to score twice in the last ten minutes through Tyas’s second goal and a Dawne Campbell strike to set up a granstand finale.

On Sunday, Tower Hill travel to Stony Stratford.
