OLD Woodstock Town produced the shock result of the day when thrashing Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East leaders Brackley Town Development 5-1 on their own ground.

The result moved Old Woodstock up to third place in the table, to close the gap on table-toppers Brackley to four points.

On Saturday, they entertain fifth-placed Finchampstead.

Yarnton Res were comfortable 2-0 winners over Chalgrove Res in Division 2 of the Oxfordshire Senior League.

Goals from Andrew Paine and Stephen Litten did the damage for the hosts.

Paine opened the scoring in the first half.

Chalgrove had the chance to level after the break when they were awarded a penalty.

However, they were cursing their luck when Yarnton goalkeeper Tristan Robson made a brilliant save to claw away Rob Cantwell’s spot-kick.

And the visitors paid a heavy price when Litten sealed victory.

The win saw Yarnton move up a place to seventh.

A double from Tom Gregory and further efforts from Stuart Morrison, Andrew Thomson and Harry Sklavounes completed a miserable afternoon for the visitors.

Promotion-chasing Tower Hill had to settle for a share of the spoils as they threw away a three-goal lead in a frustrating 4-4 draw at home to Witney Royals Res in Division 3.

It was looking so good for second-bottom Royals when Mikey Piper gave them a shock lead.

However, the hosts then charged into a seemingly unassailable 4-1 lead.

Luke James led the way for the third-placed home side with a double, while goals from Jesse Lawrence and Leigh Smith completed their tally.

Jamie Goodwin should have made it 5-1, but fluffed his lines from the penalty spot.

That proved to be the crucial moment as Piper doubled his tally and a brace of own goals saw Royals grab an unlikely point.

Steve Harris scored a hat-trick for Wychwood Forest as they eased to a 6-1 win over Kingham Res in Division 4.

Daren Davenport (2) and Ben Powell scored the hosts other goals with Alex Stringer replying.

Zac Sheffield (2), Oliver Page and Max Davies were on target as leaders Eynsham A saw off Aston Res 5-3.

Joe Cawley (2) and Reece Wain hit back for Aston.

Eynsham SSC Res beat Chadlington Res 3-0 with Sean Waldron, Chris Adams and Jamie Hewitt on target.

Combe reached the second round of the Witney Junior Cup with a 2-1 home win over Spartan Rangers.

Combe now travel to Division 1 rivals North Leigh A in Saturday’s second round.
