CARTERTON Town A went level with West Witney at the top of the Witney & District FA Premier Division by squeezing out a 3-2 home win over Charlbury Town, writes ANTHONY BARLOW.

Tommy Burns, Jason Lonsdale and Marc Stayte were all on target for the hosts, with Mike Thompson and Mark Fitzgerald scoring for Charlbury.

Combe narrowly overcame visitors Ducklington in a tight 3-2 win courtesy of an Ethan Penney double and Matt Baker’s goal.

George Townsend and Tom Gregory scored the away side’s goals.

A single Will Potter strike was enough for Hanborough to claim a 1-0 win at Minster Lovell.

Division 1 leaders Kirtlington inflicted a first defeat of the season on fourth-placed Aston with a brutal 6-1 hammering following an early red card for Aston’s Ryan Hewer.

Alex Metcalfe scored twice and Bruce Wilson, Shane Probitts, Ross Grey and Jake East also netted for the hosts, with Mike Hedges pulling one back for the visitors.

Second-placed Eynsham SSC edged out Brize Norton 4-3 away from home thanks to a two-goal blast from Ryan Stockford and strikes from John Ayres and Nick Edwards.

Brize replied through Pawel Bronk, Rob Hook and Scott Peaper, but could not muster enough for the equaliser.

Karim Diallo scored a hat-trick in Carterton Rangers’ 5-1 win over Hailey Res to move them up to third.

Jonny Dover and Jamie McDonough netted the others, with Rob Styles grabbing a consolation goal for Hailey.

Lewis Hathaway scored for North Leigh A, but it was not enough to claim all three points as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Chadlington thanks to Jordan Godfrey’s leveller.

Charlie Waite and Dave Cross were on target to give Spartan Rangers a 2-1 home win over Stonesfield, whose reply came via Paul Penny.

In Division 3, Tower Hill Stars recorded the biggest win in their history as they demolished Bourton Rovers Res 18-0.

Adam Townsend grabbed a double hat-trick, Will Graham notched five goals, James Scott bagged a treble and there were also goals for Dave Meredith (2), Darren Tasker and Richard Meredith.
