COMBE kicked off the new year with a bang as they won 7-4 at Charlbury Town in the Witney & District FA Premier Division on Saturday, writes Anthony Barlow.

Craig McCallum scored a hat-trick for the hosts, with Paul Allen getting the other, but they still finished on the losing side as Ethan Penney slammed home a four-timer for Combe, alongside goals from Pat Gardener and brothers Simon and Matt Baker.

A Rhys Warner-Carter brace was enough to give Chipping Norton Town a 2-1 win over Ducklington.

Eynsham SSC are now six points clear at the top of Division 1 following their 3-2 away victory over Aston.

John Ayres, Jason Blackman and Ryan Stockford were all on target for Eynsham, with Ryan Hewer and Ross Fleming scoring for the hosts.

Tower Hill regained top spot in Division 3 with a 3-1 win at Witney Royals.

A double from Luke Bolley and an Ian Wright goal gave the visitors victory in boggy conditions, with Max Lucas pulling one back for Royals.

Corinthians went down 4-3 at home to Wootton, despite goals from Frank Webb, Luke Cuthbert and Luke Hessey.

A Graham Berry double, as well as goals from Rob Alexander and Jon Holder, was enough to secure the points for the away side.

Liam Barnes and Eddie Webb helped themselves to a hat-trick each in Kingham All Blacks Res’ 8-2 Division 4 thrashing of Wychwood Forest Res.

Chris Perrott scored another two for the hosts, with Jay Whelan and Dan Briggs scoring the consolation goals for Wychwood.

Carterton Rangers’ run in the John Fathers Oxfordshire Junior Shield ended with a 4-2 defeat away to KEA.

The visitors twice led through Adam Lee and Dan Hall, but efforts from Dean Smith and Liam Godin levelled up the tie.

Substitute Nick Neale set up Godin for KEA’s third and then won a penalty only to see Ricki Bridges’ spot-kick well-saved by keeper Josh Bishop.

Neale settled the tie by heading home KEA’s fourth from Wayne Blossom’s cross.
