CARTERTON Town B reached the final of the Jack Busby Memorial Trophy after Dan Sollis bagged a brace in their 4-1 semi-final win over Spartan Rangers Res at Clanfield, writes Anthony Barlow.
Luke Simmons opened the scoring for newly-crowned Division 2 champions Carterton Town B, with Sollis adding two more before Olly Bush completed their scoring.
Charlie Harper scored Spartan’s consolation goal.
In n the other semi, Division 1 strugglers Hailey Res edged through 2-1 against high-flying Division 4 side Charlbury Town Res, thanks to an early Bradley Empson own goal and an Ian Steele strike.
Matt Cox scored for Charlbury.
In the Witney & District Supplementary Cup, Wychwood Forest cruised through to the semi-finals with a 3-0 defeat of Tower Hill Stars. Phil Gair and Tom Cairns were among the scorers.
In league action, Carterton Town A reclaimed top spot in the Premier Division from Bourton Rovers after their 3-1 win over bottom-placed Minster Lovell.
Minster succumbed to a Carl Williams double and a strike from Chris MacNeil, with Gary Mitchell pulling one back for the visitors.
Witney Royals pulled clear of the drop zone courtesy of a 4-1 win over hosts Ducklington.
Yassin Elouahabi scored for Ducklington but a brace from Matt Thompson and goals from Ryan Colleton and James O’Sullivan did the trick for Royals.
Hailey remain four points off the drop zone after they went down 3-2 to Chipping Norton Town.
Mo Semlali and Luke Manning were on target for the hosts but goals from Dan Kirby, Rhys Warner-Carter and Shaun Collins earned all three points for the visitors.
Matt Baker (2), Matt Currill and Ollie Morgan-Bellamy were all on target in Combe’s 4-0 win over neighbouring Hanborough.
Eynsham SSC remain clear favourites for the Division 1 title after a 7-0 thrashing of Brize Norton.
John Ayres hit a hat-trick, with Dan King (2) and Dave Primhak getting the others.
Stonesfield followed last week’s 1-0 defeat of Kirtlington with a same-score win over Spartan Rangers, Nick Clarke hitting the winner.
Carterton Rangers were beaten 2-1 by Hollybush, Jonny Dover scored their goal and a brace from Jack Robinson earning Bush victory.
North Leigh A pulled further away from the relegation zone after a 3-2 win over Hailey Res.
Joey Aust, Nathan Kimber and Lee Moseley were all on target for the hosts with Rob Styles and Mark Orpwood replying for Hailey.
