TEN-MAN North Leigh extended their winning run to three games in all competitions with a 2-1 victory at home to Swindon Supermarine on Bank Holiday Monday.

Jamie Cook continued his fine start to the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West season by notching his eighth goal of the campaign, before George Seacole added a second.

Captain Stuart Hole was sent off in the second half and Brad Hooper netted the resulting penalty, but the Millers held on to move up to fourth.

It took the hosts only three minutes to open the scoring as Cook met Aaron Woodley’s early cross at the far post to stab home from close range.

Supermarine looked to respond immediately and went close to doing so, but Connor Waldon headed over the bar.

Eric Odhiambo then went close for the Millers, while Cook could not keep his effort on target.

However, they extended their lead in first-half stoppage time when Seacole fired past goalkeeper Connor Johns.

Supermarine emerged after the break a different side and Waldon hit a post.

The hosts, who lost Cook to a hamstring injury, defended well, but their resolve was broken on 64 minutes.

Hole was dismissed for pulling back Brad Gray in the penalty area and Hooper made no mistake from 12 yards.

The visitors looked to exploit their man advantage, but also went down to ten after Dan Martyn went off injured with Supermarine out of substitutes.

They continued to search for an equaliser, but the Millers’ stubborn defending kept them at bay.

John Brough’s side are next in action against Corinthian Casuals in the first qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup this Saturday.

After a goalless first half, the Millers took the lead within a minute of the restart when Cook fired home.

And on 62 minutes, he was on hand to find the net again.
