JAMIE Cook hopes to make more special Emirates FA Cup memories when North Leigh travel to Eastleigh in Saturday’s fourth qualifying round, writes Matthew Bruce.

The experienced striker has been involved in big occasions in the competition before.

He featured in Oxford United’s famous fourth-round clash with Chelsea in 1999, as well as for Crawley Town against Manchester United in the fifth round in 2011.

Now he is keen to be involved in another memorable occasion as the Millers make their debut at this stage of the competition against a side with ambitions of promotion to the Football League.

Cook said: “Most of the best memories I have from my career are from the FA Cup and now the rest of the lads have an opportunity to make their own.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play at places like Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and Elland Road in this competition.

“So obviously it holds a lot of very special memories for me. It’s just one of those magical competitions which creates so many great moments.”

A knee injury has kept Cook out of North Leigh’s last four matches and jeopardises his chances this weekend.

If he does feature, the 37-year-old could come up against former Oxford United teammates James Constable and Ryan Clarke.

The chance to test himself against them one more time is something Cook craves.

“I think we can give them a good game and I’m desperate too play against them,” he said.

“We’ve been good friends for a long time now, so it’ll be nice to see them again.

“Clarkey is a fantastic keeper and everybody knows how good Beano is and what a threat he poses.

“But I don’t see why we can’t go down there and get a result. We’ve seen bigger upsets in the past.”
