JOHN Brough believes that the signing of centre back Matt Sysum could be the solution to North Leigh's defensive problems.
The Millers boss is hoping to tie up a deal for the Evesham United captain ahead of Wednesday evening's trip to Winchester City in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West and shore up a defence which has conceded 15 times in the last six games.
"He’s an uncompromising centre back, which is just what we needed, because we’ve lacked a bit of grit at the back," Brough said.
"It’s something we’ve identified as a weakness and when Matt became available we were very keen to bring him here.
"Evesham have had a very good clean sheet record in the last few seasons while he has been captain.
"We’ve conceded far too many goals this season and we need to start keeping some clean sheets."
