JOHN Brough has prepared his North Leigh side for a battle this weekend as they make their Buildbase FA Trophy first round debut away to South Park this weekend.

The Millers have already disposed of higher-league opposition in the form of Folkestone Invicta and two-time winners Kingstonian to reach this stage for the first time.

But manager Brough has warned that his side face a different sort of encounter when they travel to Surrey on Saturday.

"We might have to grind it out, but I think we've shown we can do that," he said.

"We didn't play all that well on Saturday against Bideford (a 2-1 win), but we did the ugly things well and didn't let them take control.

"We deserved to win, not because we played well, but because we made ourselves hard to beat.

"If we have to do that again this weekend we can do it.

"If we can play fluid attacking football we will look to do it, but if we have to roll our sleeves up and make ourselves difficult to beat we'll do that."

Ryman League Division 1 South side South Park stunned their Vanarama National League South hosts Oxford City in the previous round to set up this weekend's clash of giantkillers.

Both sides are at this stage of the competition for the first time and Brough believes it is something worth celebrating, regardless of the outcome.

He said: "Reaching the first round is a big achievement for any club at this level.

"It's the first time we've done it before, so we've already achieved more in this competition than we ever have done in the past.

"Obviously we'd love to win it – I want to win every game, whether that's a training match, a friendly, or a big cup match."

However, for North Leigh – who are without the cup-tied Bradley Gray and Matt Sysum once again – the priority remains their Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West campaign.

"The league is our bread and butter," said Brough.

"The reason I came here was to take this club into its best position in the league. Any cup runs are just a bonus.

"But winning football matches breeds positivity and this is a nice place to be when we're winning."
