TEN-MAN North Leigh held hosts South Park to a 1-1 draw to keep their Buildbase FA Trophy campaign alive.

George Seacole fired the Millers into an early lead in their first round debut, but James McElligott hauled the Ryman League South Division hosts level.

Michael Hopkins was dismissed for North Leigh in the second half.

But it made no difference to the result and the two sides will replay tomorrow night.

The Millers started the game in perfect fashion, taking the lead with less than a minute played.

Jamie Cook beat his man on the right and rounded goalkeeper Callum Thomas, before squaring for top-scorer Seacole to net his 21st goal of the season for the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West side.

But the home side struck back and levelled midway through the half, when captain Kieran Lavery headed back across the face of goal for the unmarked McElligott to nod in.

Moments later, Lavery came close to putting South Park in front as his header crashed back off the crossbar.

The hosts finished the half on top and should have led at the break after Kofi Quartey sliced horribly wide when clean through on the brink of half-time.

The Millers regrouped and started the second half brightly.

Seacole fired just inches wide four minutes after the restart, before Cook blasted well over following a poor punch from goalkeeper Thomas.

However, it was not until after Hopkins was shown a second yellow card 20 minutes from time for a late challenge on Jerry O’Sullivan that the ten-man Millers enjoyed a sustained spell of pressure.

Seacole had the chance to win it in the final minute, superbly controlling an excellent through ball to get in behind the South Park defence, only to be denied by a terrific last-ditch challenge.

Both sides will be included in this afternoon’s second round draw ahead of tomorrow evening’s replay at Eynsham Park.
