SAM Elkins earned Didcot Town a 2-2 draw with North Leigh in an entertaining local derby at Eynsham Park.

The defender’s 67th minute free-kick saw the sides share the spoils in an evenly-matched Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West clash.

Louis Joyce gave the Railwaymen an early lead, but Lance Williams and Jamie Cook fired North Leigh ahead.

Elkins then levelled as the sides were made to settle for a point.

The visitors started well, forcing Millers goalkeeper Manny Agboola to pull off a terrific double save to deny Joyce and Ben Whitehead.

But the ball was only half-cleared to James Organ, whose screwed shot was tapped in by Joyce.

Didcot had chances to double their lead shortly after, only for Agboola to deny Organ and Joyce.

The Millers grew into the game and equalised on 25 minutes, when Williams bundled the ball over the line after goalkeeper Leigh Bedwell failed to collect a Michael Hopkins corner.

Six minutes later it was 2-1 as another set piece caused problems in the Didcot penalty area and Cook pounced to smash home.

It was the visitors who were the more threatening after the break.

Agboola pulled off a fine save on 57 minutes, pushing a powerful Whitehead effort from 20 yards on to a post.

However, he was beaten ten minutes later as Elkins hammered a free-kick from the edge of the area, which the goalkeeper got a hand to but the ball went over the line off the right-hand post.

Both sides searched for a winner, with Joyce seeing an effort cleared off the line, while Bedwell denied Bradley Gray at the other end, as they shared the spoils.

In Division 1 Central, Anaclet Odhiambo’s hat-trick proved in vain as Kidlington found themselves on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller, losing 4-3 at home to Aylesbury United.

Odhiambo fired the Greens into a second-minute lead, but the visitors responded to lead at half-time.

Ollie Hogg netted, before Bruno Brito scored twice, his second an arrowed shot from 30 yards, to make it 3-1.

Odhiambo reduced the arrears five minutes into the second half, but the visitors hit back through Reece Cameron.

Kidlington lost Mark Janes to an ankle injury late on and were forced to play with ten men, having used all of their substitutes.

There was still time for Odhiambo to net his hat-trick, but not enough for the hosts to find an equaliser.
