Clanfield produced a fine home performance to beat Cheltenham Saracens 3-1 in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West.

Michael Duerden went close to putting the home side ahead early on, but his effort drifted just wide with the keeper beaten.

The hosts took the lead after 28 minutes when Jack Kennedy combined down the left wing with Callum Davies, whose first-time cross was bundled home at the far post by Karl Dickinson.

Clanfield doubled their lead on 39 minutes when Duerden’s free kick was met by James McGowen who converted from close range.

Straight after half-time, McGowen netted his second goal converting another Duerden free kick.

Shortly afterwards, Lee Toomey struck a post as the home side dominated the game.

The home side did get caught on the counter-attack in the 70th minute when Saracens won a penalty which was converted by Jamie Martin.

l Freeland kept up the pace at the top of the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division with a 5-0 victory at home to Cropredy.

A blistering first-half display saw Freeland put the result beyond doubt.

Dean Mays, Liam Harris, Chris Gilkes and Danny Taylor gave the hosts a commanding four-goal lead at half-time.

Only a string of superb saves from Cropredy goalkeeper Liam Harris prevented Freeland from extending their lead for much of the second half.

But he was finally beaten again in the 79th minute when Tom McCudden stabbed home from a corner.

l Carterton Town A eased into the semi-finals of the Oxfordshire John Fathers Junior Shield with a 4-1 win at St Ebbes.

Mike Bolt, Dave Wanless, Olly Bush and Tommy Burns were all on target for the visitors.
