A SUPERB display from goalkeeper Manny Agboola could not prevent North Leigh suffering a 1-0 defeat away to promotion Bristol Manor Farm in the Evo-Stik South League West Division on Saturday.

Playing their first game since December 5 after three successive postponements, John Brough’s side were understandably slow to get into their stride.

The home side had the better of the opening half-hour but were repeatedly thwarted by an excellent goalkeeping display by Agboola, who foiled Kye Holly in the tenth minute and pulled off a fine stop from a Jamie Turner effort five minutes later.

The visitors were unlucky not to take the lead after 35 minutes when striker George Seacole hit a fierce drive which shaved the outside of Ashley Clarke’s near post.

Two minutes later, Manor Farm scored the only goal of the game when midfielder Kye Holly hit a sweet drive into the top corner from 25 yards out.

Both sides had chances in a closely contested second half but Agboola and a well-organised Manor Farm defence ensured that there was no addition to Holly’s deadly strike.

North Leigh: Agboola, Keighley, Hopkins, James, Weldon, Paddock, Mattock, Sheehan, Seacole, Waldon, Grabe. Subs: Lawrence, Lymn, Marshall, Carroll, McGlynn.

Attendance: 88.

l Clanfield 85 cruised to a 4-1 victory away to Woodstock Town in Division 1 East of the Uhlsport Hellenic League.

Substitute Andrew Barton gave the visitors an interval lead, while Karl Dickinson, Adam Pendall and Jack Kennedy added to that tally in the second half.

Callam Green netted Woodstock’s only reply.
