BANBURY United manager Mike Ford is relishing the chance to pull off a shock win when his side visit Evo-Stik South League Premier Division leaders Kings Lynn Town tomorrow.

The Puritans produced an excellent display to beat Slough Town 1-0 last weekend, but Ford knows that his side face an even tougher test tomorrow, with the Norfolk club having lost just once at home all season.

“We can go to Kings Lynn with a lot more belief on the back of last week’s display,” Ford said.

“The first thing we have to do is make sure that we prepare well. We are playing the leaders, so we will have to be as professional and as disciplined as we were last week.”

The Puritans are set to include new signing Amer Awadh, a 20-year-old striker who has previously been at Oxford City.

Awadh has more recently been playing for Fanja SC in Oman and has now had international clearance to make his debut.

“Amer has nice ability and is very tenacious with an excellent attitude,” Ford said. “He will be in the squad and we want to give him a go between now and the end of the season.”

Banbury had signed Leon Lobjoit on loan from Northampton Town until the end of the season as a replacement for the departed Conor McDonagh, but he has now been ruled out for between six and eight weeks with a broken arm.

Tom Bradbury, who hobbled off with an ankle injury last weekend, is a doubt.

“Last Saturday’s win gave us a nice benchmark for how we go forward,” Ford said.

“If we want to challenge the likes of Kings Lynn, we need to reproduce performances like last week consistently.”

Didcot Town face another tough test when they host fellow West Division play-off hopefuls Evesham United at Loop Meadow tomorrow.

Andy Ballard’s side, who lost 2-0 at Winchester last weekend, will have to make do without suspended duo Adam Learoyd and Stuart Cattell.

Sam Barder and George Reid (holidays) are also missing, but Callum McNish may return after coming through 90 minutes for the reserves in midweek.

“Evesham were well-beaten at home by Cirencester, so I’m expecting a reaction from them,” Ballard said.

“They are a very experienced side, who have consistently finished in the play-offs, so we know exactly how to approach a game like this.”

Reacting to last weekend’s defeat, Ballard felt Didcot were unlucky to be on the losing side.

Ballard said: “We had numerous chances in the first half, but were unable to take them.

“Stuart’s red card must have spurred us on, because we created several very good chances, but being 2-0 down it was just too much of an ask for us to get back into the game.”

Struggling North Leigh make the trip to Wimborne Town, desperately in need of points.

The Millers have not won since December 5, and have once again suffered a rash of postponements in recent weeks.

Jamie Cook looks to have shaken off a knee injury, while Ryan Paddock and Anthony Simpson return.

Kidlington host Larkhall Athletic, having seen their midweek clash at home to Bideford abandoned at

half-time.

The hosts trailed 1-0 at the break, but constant rain left the surface unplayable, much to the annoyance of their Devon visitors.

Lewis Coyle is still missing for tomorrow’s clash.

In the East Division, Thame United travel to Bedford Town still believing they have a very outside chance of making the play-offs.

Although Mark West’s side are 12 points adrift of the top five, they do have games in hand over all their rivals.

“It certainly gives us something to play for,” said the manager.

“If we can keep all our players fit, you never know. It’s been a shame our last two matches were off, because after the win at Beaconsfield, we really wanted to keep it going.”

Liam Tack is still suspended, while Ben Sturgess (ankle) is ruled out.
